What Is the WoW Classic Priest Class?

Two Priest casting a Holy Fire in WoW Classic

The Priest is the master of the art of preservation and healing. They heal wounds, shield allies, and finish mobs through more mana-efficient spells, such as Holy Fire and Holy Light. Like no other classes, they can resurrect allies from death. Their play style is silent and protective, providing solo damage from a distance.

Priests have three talent trees, each with unique talents and abilities for different purposes. Shadow provides solid damage, but it's recommendable to use it from level 40. Discipline is the talent tree you want to choose if you want to mitigate large amounts of damage. Healing is the right choice for PvP and healing dungeons.

Smite Priest

Discipline Priests are tanks that use the spell power to shield allies from enemy attacks and heal wounds. They are a fundamental part of any dungeon quest, providing reasonable damage control and decent Wand damage to enemies.

Holy Priest

Healing Spec Priests are mainly healers whose mission is to reverse damage to groups and individuals. A healer can even bring back characters beyond the grave. Holy Priest is a good choice for healing group content if you want spam Smite Priest.

Shadow Priest

The Shadow Spec Priest is a dark sorcerer who uses sinister Shadow Magic and Void Magic to deal shadow damage and eradicate enemies from the battlefield. Shadow Priests are great for level 40+ players.

Priest  Spells to Buy While Leveling

Some common mistake is to believe that you need to buy all the abilities you find in the game as you can train them. The best is to buy only specific spells at certain levels. This way, you save money to buy your first mount at level 40.

  • Smite (Lvl 1). Your basic Holy damage spell.

  • Mind Blast (Lvl 5). Blast the target mind with a useful damage spell.

  • Shadow Word: Pain (Lvl 4). It’s one of the most mana-efficient spells.

  • Power Word: Shield (Lvl 6). It provides an instant absorb shield, which is great for emergency and healing situations.

  • Inner Fire (Lvl 9). This spell will provide you with solid armor gain. It also helps you to take a lot of melee damage.

  • Lesser Heal (Lvl 10). It provides good healing from 143 to 165.

  • Renew (Lvl 14). A spell that heals you over time.

  • Heal (Lvl 16 ). Heal is your primary healing spell.

  • Holy Fire (Lvl 20). A great opener for any Smite Priest. It delivers a massive amount of Holy Damage.

  • Power Word: Fortitude (Lvl 60). This spell is a great buff that enhances you and your party members.

  • Greater Heal (Lvl 60). This spell is going to be another of your primary healing spells. You’ll be able to heal a single target from 1966 to 2194.

  • Divine Spirit (Lvl 60). You’ll increase the Spirit of you and your party members.

Stats Priority

  • Spirit. It is the most crucial statistic since it dramatically increases mana and health regeneration. Besides, you can synergize it with Spirit Tap to double the Spirit for 15 seconds after dealing a killing blow.

  • Intellect. It increases the maximum mana pool and raises the Spell's Critical Hit chance. It also increases the learning weapon skills rate.

  • Stamina. It increases your Health pool.

  • Agility. It provides additional Dodge chance and increases Armor and Weapon Critical Hit chance. It will also improve your defenses a bit.

  • Strength. Priests do not use Off-Hand Shields, and they're fragile bashing mobs heads, so Strength is irrelevant to them.

  • Tailoring. Some of the best professions combinations are Tailoring + Enchanting or some reason: Wands. Tailoring will let you have some uncommon items for disenchanting. It will also provide you with your first Wand.

  • Enchanting. This profession also will provide you with the Greater Magic Wand if you level it to 70. At this point, feel free to respec your points if you need more points for other professions.

Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning are excellent for making extra money while solo questing or wandering, especially when your character is in earlier levels.
