Count Ymir and Jolan Questline in Elden Ring DLC Shadow of Erdtree

Today, I’m going to take you through all the steps required to complete the Questline tied to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. What does that entail? We will be going through every step of the maps and breaking down the paths you had to follow. Count Ymir and Jolan's questline in Elden Ring DLC Shadow of Erdtree is packed with lore and takes you across the entire map.

Count Ymir is one of the new NPCs you’ll encounter in Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree, who has a questline that runs alongside the main story. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete the Sword of Knight Jolan’s quest which is also included in this guide.

Before we dive into this powerful shield tank build if you're looking to maximize your experience and save time, consider Buying Elden Ring Runes and items from MMOPixel. We offer reliable services to help you get ahead in your journey.

How To Reach Cathedral of Manus Metyr

To start this questline, you need to reach the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. After you complete the castle Ensis and defeat Rellana, you need to head to more ruins. Enter from the southern end and descend through the large hole using the ledges and the rooftops which will allow you to proceed through the tunnel at the bottom. When you keep moving forward then you will climb the ladder and you will find yourself in the bonny village.

From there, head east across a series of bridges until you reach the village site of grace. Before the first bridge, you need to take the left and make sure to acquire the “O Mother gesture” from the village as it is crucial for the questline. You will find it in front of the Queen Merika Statue in front of a white tree.

After that, you can go back to the bridge and continue North until you reach the site of Grace and then head south upward to find the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.

Meeting Count Ymir and Jolan

Once you reach the Cathedral, you will encounter Count Ymir and Jolan. First, you need to speak with Count Ymir, and after you exhaust all of the dialogue. He gives you the Hole-Laden Necklace and first Ruins map which you need to find and ring the Hanging bell at the finger ruins. You’re then going to want to exhaust his dialogues until he offers you, his shop. Here you can ask about Glenstone sorcery and you can also study sorceries to learn new sorceries in this DLC.

Find and Ring the Bells at Finger Ruins

To reach the first one, you must head to the Cerulean Coast, reach this part of the map, find the finger ruins, and ring the bell. Once you make your way to the bell at the very center or like the finger that looks very much like the necklace you got from Count Ymir. Move closer to it and you can see that you can sound the hanging Bell.

You will receive the Crimson Seed Talisman +1. This Talisman greatly boosts HP restoration from Flask of Crimson Tears.

Move back to Cathedral

Inside the Cathedral, if you go to the right at the start of Ymir chamber, you’ll see an NPC whose Armor set we have. You need to talk to Jolan and then you can go ahead and speak to Ymir. You will then get the Ruins map second as well as Beloved Stardust.

Find the Second Finger Ruin of Dheo

Once you have the O Mother Gesture, you can travel to the shadow Keep back gate. From the back gate of Grace Point, there is a statue to the right where you must use your Gesture, and doing so will unlock a new path to the northeast of the map to a place called Hinterland.

From here travel along the path dealing with all the enemies all the way to the end to find the second finger ruin of Dheo. Once you get to the Finger Bell, you again just have to blow it. Just go right into the middle and sound the Hanging Bell. This will give you the Cerulean Seed Talisman +1. This Talisman greatly boosts FP restoration from Flask of Cerulean Tears.

How to Get to Metyr, Mother of Fingers

After that, you can return to Ymir and exhaust all of the dialogue options with him and Jolan, and make sure to buy all of Ymir’s spells because he’ll disappear after you speak with him. After talking to Ymir, speak with Jolan. Next, reload the area and you can see that Ymir is gone.

Head over to the throne and there’s a secret switch you can press and the throne will disappear revealing a ladder where you can head down. After you reach the bottom, you’ll be invaded, so defeat the sword hand of Knight Anna and get rewarded with a set of claw weapons, Claws of Night. This weapon scales primarily on dexterity and does have blood loss buildup.

From here, ring the next Bell and then you’ll be transported to a Boss fight with Metyr, Mother of Fingers. She is a tough boss but if you’re the sorcerer spamming rockling makes the fight super easy. After defeating her you will get her remembrance which will give you either the staff of Great Beyond or a grazing finger colossal weapon.

Return to Cathedral

Once you defeat Metyr, Mother of Fingers, move back to the throne room and interact throne and you’ll be invaded by the sword hand of Knight, Jolan. As soon as he’s dead you’ll then immediately fight Count Ymir who’s powerful but takes a lot of damage, so it’s not going to be too much of a difficult fight. Once you defeat Count Ymir, you’ll be rewarded with the following.

·         1xYmir’s Ball Bearing

·         1xMeternal Staff

·         1xHigh Priest Hat

·         1x High Priest Robe

·         1x High Priest Gloves

·         1x High Priest Undergarments

Defeating Ymir will give you the Eternal staff and high priest armor set. If you go ahead and you rest at the site of Grace nearby, this will update the area and Jolan will be sitting down against the pillar.

So, we’re almost finished with this quest and we just need one item in order to get the rewards from Jolan and you can give him either Iris or Grace or Iris of Occultation. There are multiples of these in the world but the easiest ones to find are for the Iris of Occultation

Find the Iris of Occultation and Iris of Grace

Iris of Occultation is found at Fort of Reprimand. Simple down in the fort and defeat the horned warrior.

For Iris of Grace, head to the Shadow Keep storehouse first floor and take the elevator on the left down. In the room on the right, you can drop down and you can find the Iris of Grace after defeating the enemies.

Getting Swordhand of Knight Jolan

Lastly, return to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and speak to Jolan one last time and you can give him either of Irises. Unfortunately, you cannot give him both, so if you give him Iris of Grace then you’ll be rewarded with the Jolan Sword Hand of Knight Jolan Ash and spirit summon.

You can also take this to Rabbath’s rise which you can access from the hinterland Grace Point to find a secret area in the rise with Anna’s puppet body. Interact with the body to upgrade your Ash and spirit to Jolan and Anna's spirit summon.

However, if you give Jolan the Iris of Occultation then he’ll reward you with Sword of Knight which is required to finish the Knight Armor Set. This is just the sword that goes with that full armor set but either way, you can only get one of these rewards.
