Elden Ring Hammer Cragblade - Tower Knight Build Guide

With the potential “June” release date of The Shadow of Erdtree, players are preparing their characters, and tidying up as a new wave of merciless enemies and bosses are going to appear. Elden Ring Hammer Cragblade is one of the builds that you can look after to help you clear the Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Erdtree, as it gives you that high damage alongside tanking potential. So, without any further delay, let’s hop onto our Elden Ring Tower Knight Build Guide.

What is the Tower Knight Build?

Elden Ring Tower Knight Build - Hammer Cragblade

Just as the name suggests, you are going to put up a character that looks like a tower knight. Utilizing a hammer, and a long shield with the tower knight set, you can create a strong enough character to stance break every boss in the game.

On top of that, you also have the Cragblade Ash of War in place here that helps you break the stance of enemies effortlessly, breaking them down and easily killing them.

Furthermore, picking a hammer is essential for this build because of the 36-stance damage. Bosses (mostly) in Elden Ring have 80 stances, which means if you do enough stance damage in a period, their stance breaks.

What happens then? Well, this is the moment that the boss stops attacking you and just sits on the ground recovering. At that moment, you can just attack the boss, or deal critical damage.

Hammers in general are lightweight and come packed with high stance damage on their charged heavy attack. If you go for a heavy weapon like a great hammer or any other, they take time to strike and build up the stance break.

We are also using a shield to block the damage and counter-attack, which becomes a nightmare with the heavy weapon. So, the best pick is going to be a hammer.

This means if you are going for a Hammer Cragblade build, you might as well aim for this stance break (80 minimum for bosses). But wait, two to three hits aren’t enough to reach the stance break, right?

Yes, this is where we are using the Cragblade Ash of War that enhances your stance break potential, alongside more attack damage. After this, you will be able to stance-break most enemies in two to three hits.

Hammer Cragblade - Tower Knight Build Working

The general strategy here is that you are going to use the Cragblade to buff your hammer, move around the area to boost your damage, block enemy attacks with your shield, and counterattack them.

This remains the same for the enemies that are on the landscape, not the bosses or the mini-bosses.

When you enter a boss room, you have to first start with the charged heavy attack on the boss. Start hitting them, and when they start attacking you back, use the shield to counter them.

The hammer we chose for the Elden Ring Tower Knight Build also has a native bleed build that doesn’t activate on the smaller enemies.

On bosses, you have to trigger the stance break multiple times, and that bleed effect will come in handy as it builds up shortly on enemies.

In the Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Erdtree, you have to specifically go for the builds that have status effects, and stance damage, and our Elden Ring Hammer Cragblade Build has both of these.

Gear for Elden Ring Tower Knight Build

Now that you know about the Tower Knight Build and the working of our Hammer Cragblade, let’s jump to the gear you will need.

Hammer - Morningstar

Hammer - Morningstar Location

The hammer you are going to use for the Tower Knight Build is Morningstar. It isn’t written on stone, as you can get any early-game hammer you like. You can get the Morningstar in the Weeping Peninsula.

Greatshield - Manor Towershield

Greatshield - Manor Towershield Location

Moving on, the shield that you want to pick for Hammer Cragblade is the Manor Towershield, which is a Greatshield. You can also get it relatively easily, in Stormville Castle.

Note: You have to defeat a boss named Margid the Fell Omen to get the Manor Towershield.

It has an exceptional guard boost which is something you need in the game for the DLC and for this build specifically. You can perform block counters effectively, allowing you to do a good attack on the enemies and bosses.

One thing is that it costs you extra inventory space, because of its weight. Also, it requires 30 strength to wield. So, that’s something to consider.

Our Hammer Cragblade Build specifically wields a lightweight hammer with this shield to compensate for the inventory space. Other than that, you do need the 30 strength, which we are also going to talk about later on in the guide, in our attributes section.

Ash of War - Cragblade

Ash of War - Cragblade Location

Thirdly, you need the Ash of War Cragblade, which is found in Caelid and quite close to the Red Mane Castle. There, you will find a teardrop scarab that you have to kill to get the Ash of War Cragblade.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to kill anything else to get to the Cragblade. Just find and kill the scarab to get it.

Armor - Knight Set

We are looking for some styling here after all, so the best-suited armor for our Tower Knight Build is going to be the Tower Knight Set. You can find this set in the Roundtable Hold, where you can buy it.

Talisman for Tower Knight Build

Don’t worry, just like the gear, you can also find the Talisman relatively early on as well. Following are the Talisman you need for the Elden Ring Tower Knight Build.

  1. Green Turtle Talisman - This Talisman is for stamina recovery, and solving stamina issues.

  2. Axe Talisman - Enhances the charged heavy attack damage which is what you are doing in this build for the most part.

  3. Curved Sword Talisman - Enhances block counter damage, which is also something you are doing in this build often.

  4. Greatshield Talisman - Boosts shield guard, meaning you will lose less stamina when you block attacks from enemies. You can pass on this Talisman if you like because it is an extra.

  5. You can also go for something like Ritual Sword Talisman to increase your attack damage.

After you defeat Margit, you will gain another Talisman slot as well. This will increase your slot from one to two, allowing you to put this build together in no time.

Attributes for Elden Ring Tower Knight Build

Last but not least, the attributes you need to focus on are as follows:

  • 80 strength

  • 50 Vigor

  • 30 Endurance

  • 25 Mind

  • 16 Intelligence

  • 12 Dexterity

  • 9 Arcane

  • 7 Faith

The basic purpose of the following attributes for Tower Knight Build is that you have enough health (vigor) to trade hits and be aggressive.

Mind isn’t essential as you have Cragblade that takes less mana, which enables you to lessen it to 20.

On Endurance, you are putting 30 or even more because you are using stamina often. Everything including your attack block, light attack, counter, and running drains stamina. Also, you are putting on a 50 poise armor set here.

The Hammer Cragblade - Tower Knight Build is a Strength-based build, after all, meaning you are putting 80 Strength here. Why? Well, you are one-handing the hammer here, and that 80 can greatly benefit you.

Dexterity isn’t something to worry about either, as your starting class might come with that, and you also need some for the hammer. It depends on the class and the hammer.

Besides these, you don’t need Arcane or Faith for this build. These are just the attributes that your class might come with, or require for other gear you have to wear.

Conclusion

The Tower Knight Build revolves around your Hammer and Cragblade, alongside uniquely picked gear and attributes. The main purpose of this build is to prepare you for Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Erdtree, as it has elemental damage, and stance-breaks the enemies, allowing you to attack them, keep your distance, gather strength, or critical strike. Follow this Elden Ring Tower Knight Build Guide to create the stance-break build and dominate the DLC when it launches.
