Necromancers with Magicka Builds aren’t that common but once you try it out, there is no going back. This Build is made for players who want to go extreme with their DPS on Necromancer Class.
Furthermore, this build isn’t that much great with defense, so it works great for PvE where you have those allies to help you out in surviving. Trying this Build on the Trial Dummy (Iron Atronach), you will get around 50k minimum DPS, which is great considering you are pumping Magicka.
Besides all this, there are changes you can make with this build to work it out on your solo journey. Without any further delay, let’s hop into the details.
For this Build, you need to have the Necromancer Class. While being all about the DPS, you depend most on your abilities and then on your equipment. Most of the DPS Builds are made from putting most points into the Stamina, while this one is a bit unique.
You need to have the most on your Magicka, which we also discussed in this article. Grave Lord Skill Tree is the one you have to focus on and a deep understanding of Stalking Blastbones, Ricochet Skull, Mystic Syphon, and Unnerving Boneyard.
Rotation between these abilities makes all the difference. Besides all this, the Equipment is similar to the other DPS Builds and you get a lot of time with your abilities to master them in this build.

It doesn’t need any experience to find out this build is based on the Magicka, so the Race you need to select should be based on that specifically. So, to our knowledge the best-suited races for Necromancer Magicka DPS Build are;
Altmer Class: You get around 2k more Magicka while you restore 640 Magicka over the time of 6 seconds, there is the enhancement of the 258 damage to spells and a reduction in the damage taken to around 5 percent.
Breton Class: Same as Altmer, you get around 2k more Magicka, cost reduction of spells to around 7 percent, 200 recoveries of Magicka, and more.
So, it depends, on which race will work better for your play style. In case you don’t like both of them, you can go for the Khajiit Class or the Dunmer Class.
The Necromancer Magicka DPS Build is Magicka Hungry, you will have to put all the points into it to reach the best DPS state. There is null defense in this build, so you will have to keep a balance as well. If the allies screwed up, there is no one to save you. Therefore, your second priority is health and your last priority is Stamina.

In this Magicka Build, the main point of Abilities you need is from the Grave Lord Skill Tree. As a Necromancer, your main Damage comes from there and no other way is possible here. Unlike the typical Necromancer Builds where you focus on the active abilities, passive play the major role here.

This build is completely wrapped around the Magicka Attribute, so we have mainly the Equipment that deals with Magicka, rather than Stamina or Health.
For this build, you only need a staff. Considering something you feel is good for this build, you can add it into the mix but our recommendation is;
Maelstrom Staff: Using this staff, you can add various elemental damages to the mix. Some of the choices are Shock and Fire damage. This Build already has Fire through some abilities, so adding shock to the mix is generally well off.
The Armor is divided into various segments to get you geared up for every situation
Basic Armor
Magnus Gift with Mother’s Sorrow
Crafty Alfiq
Top Armor
False God’s Devotion
Spell Strategist
Burning Spellweave
Mantle of Siroria
Monster Armor
It falls on the choice of element you pick with your build. If you are into the Shock Element, then your best pick is none other than the ilambris set but you can also go for the Zaan and Valkyn Skoria in case you want to go for Fire or Lightning.
Weapon Damage Glyph: It enhances the overall damage of your weapon
Precise Traits: Enhancement of weapon damage and also critical
Magicka Glyph (Divine Trait): For the Armor, you need to get this Glyph along with the trait of Divine and in return, you will get better Magicka
Bloodthirsty Trait: This trait enhances execution phase damage for bosses. In this phase, bosses are truly the deadliest and the Bloodthirsty enhances your damage considerably.
Spell Damage Glyph (Arcane or Bloodthirsty Trait): It enhances the overall damage of your Spells in this build
In the end, the only thing that matters are DPS, especially when it comes to builds like these. The Necromancer Magicka DPS Build is specifically made for PvE because your character is really weak to solo the enemies and needs help from allies to survive.
But, it's not like you can’t make it work for the Solo scenario, you need to change the abilities a bit to something like Summoner Armor alongside Maelstrom Arena. Lastly, this Build doesn’t require crazy equipment, but rather a few suitable Magicka Enhancing stuff and you are good to terrify some enemies in ESO.
