What Is Apex Valakkar?

It's a worm. Star Citizen 4.2 literally came up with a worm to raise the aesthetics and fighting levels of the game. We are absolutely serious here. However, the majority of the creative team thought it was a joke when the director of the game came up with this idea. It's a Godzilla-sized, huge giant worm located in the system of  Pyro, waiting for you to fight it. It changes a little bit in size and form according to the levels of radiation but not unrecognizably. It's a “get together and defeat the monster” kind of fight, which was actually created for four players initially.

Not to be taken lightly, it's a very dangerous and ‘hard to defeat’ worm presented to sharpen your gaming skills in this version. You can't exactly call it self-conscious or a creature with feelings like any other intelligent opponent, but that doesn't make it any less lethal. You can find Valakkar in Pyro One, Daymar, Leor Three, or Monox. It eats plants, animals, or almost anything edible. Maybe that's the reason people also call it the worm of sand. There's a long story behind its birth and how it became what it is now, but we're here to fight it, not analyze it, so let's stick to the point and move forward.

How Can I Encounter Apex Valakkar?

Well, in layman’s terms, we'd say find it before it finds you. The first thing we noticed before encountering the Valakkar in Star Citizen 4.2 was its scary roaring. Second, it's big in size with its huge moves, so obviously, particles of dust will be seen scattering around. Because of the size only, the surface below your character’s feet will shake heavily when you are in the vast range of this creature. If these signs are there, you must acknowledge that there's a Valakkar around. Now, if you have experienced all that we have mentioned above, it's time to fight.

1) Never go alone: Going lone shark might work somewhere else, but it's not a practical decision here. We say don't fight it unless you at least have a company of four.

2) Store health: There's no turning back to damaged health unless you have medkits to support your immune system. Thats why always take a lot of medical supplies with you. By ‘a lot of’’, we mean as many as you can, because after all, you're fighting a giant here, and most probably you will need health all the time.

3) Big weapons first: Small weapons are not going to work here. So bring everything big, powerful, and more damaging because whatever your weapon might be, you'll still need to fire it more than once.

There are few other things you will have to prepare. The accessories that you wear should be able of shielding you from radiation. Because of the reason that Valakkar is so huge and yet it able to move relatively fast, and in a flexible way, the movement shivers the ground. You have to balance yourself well and avoid falling down specially while attacking. If you have gone through everything that we have described till now, you are prepared to face Valakkar. Let's move ahead and talk about the methods you can adapt while fighting Valakkar.

Strategies To Fight Valakkar

There are many ways to defeat Valakkar in this Star Citizen 4.2, but which one you choose to adapt depends entirely on your preference. We can only give you a few strategies just so you can figure the best one out for yourself. Let's know them to begin with.

Cognitive strategies

Know it to kill it. Though it's just a creature, it still has its moving patterns, attacking patterns, and defending patterns. Knowing those patterns will help you be at the right place at the right time. The length of this creature is approximately one hundred and fifty meters long. It has the ability to distract you by its loud and creature like voice, which might affect your immediate decision power, so stay cool while confronting this giant. It also has the tendency to attack you in unexpected ways, so stay watchful as well. Valakkar digs a lot, so you don't want to get in its way and get crushed in the process at that time.

Positioning strategies

Even if you do have gear to protect yourself from radiation, we recommend you stay away from radiation areas while attacking or defending. Always position yourself away from those areas. The higher you position yourself from the ground, the better are your chances to see Valakkar properly. If you can see it properly, you can aim at it properly as well.

Fighting strategies

Being seen by the creature as little as possible is a good thing to do. But you should always be able to see it, so use scanning and locate Valakkar. His whole body shines from various places, and those are the places you should attack. The advantage of going to fight along with the team is, you can distract the creature from all directions. If you all only attack from one direction, the whole team will be in jeopardy, so never approach it like that. Also, keep changing the places from which you attack frequently so that Valakkar can't aim properly.

Tips To Fight Valakkar

  • Throw stuff towards Valakkar like boxes or drones to get its attention away from you.

  • You might fall down because of the sound it generates, so stay away from the range of its sound as well.

  • Use ammunition that can blow the target on a bigger scale because of the big size of Valakkar.

  • Unless you know the way out, don't get in. Don't choose to fight if you don't know where you'll run in case you want to withdraw from the fight.

  • Don't battle close to the structures that are not strong enough, because whether you like it or not, there will be some shaking which may make objects hurt you.

  • Because Valakkar is huge in size and furious in nature, it fires up and shakes things up a little bit more just before it attacks. That's one way to predict it just before the attack so you can move yourself to a safer position.

  • Your teammates are attacking it too, so know their approach as well and work in unity towards destroying Valakkar.

  • Although it's your decision ultimately, we strongly recommend keeping one team member dedicated to repairing equipment and to heal each member of the team. This way, there will be one person less in the attack, but every member will be twice as strong.

  • Never use one kind of weapon only. You never know how far or how close you will have to get to Valakkar in order to destroy it.

  • One last tip that always works in this and almost every game when it comes to killing a huge enemy is, always go for the head while attacking whenever it's possible.

Conclusion

Valakkar is not designed only for the sake of variety. If Star Citizen 4.2 gives you big monsters to fight, it also gives you big rewards to collect upon destroying them. It’s not just standing around one place and aiming at the enemy, it teaches you how to strategize in a challenge where everything around you is unstable. Here, you have to be aware of not only the enemy but the environment as well. Weapons alone will not suffice. Strong unity between teammates and effective planning will be needed as well.

So it's not only for those who seek visual amusement or a change of pace from monotonous gameplay. Those who like a challenge, or those looking for big rewards should try this fight as well. But if you're a big fan of unity among players or you love fighting along with your group of friends, this is a fight you should never miss. We hope you will apply these strategies and tips in your gameplay and discover even more. Happy gaming!
