Gems in New World are essential to refine your armor and weapons. After reaching level 20 and beyond, you’ll see that Tier 3 gear has gem slots available. These are crucial for late-game PvP and PvE content, as they improve your equipment significantly. In this guide, we’ll cover New World gems thoroughly, discussing where to find them and how to make the most out of them on your weapons and armor.

There are a few different ways of acquiring gemstones in New World. However, we’ll focus on the most effective ways of getting them.
Gems drop from every ore you encounter: Iron, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Starmetal, and Orichalcum. You can increase your mining luck by equipping a Miner’s Charm or crafting a pickaxe with an increased luck chance.
Amrine Temple Expedition from level 23 onwards. This dungeon is filled with gems, and it’s worth running through it at least a couple of times.
If you’re rich enough, you can visit Trading Post and buy some raw gemstones, but they will cost you a pretty penny. Fortunately, we offer Lost Ark Gold for competitive prices at MMOPIXEL.
You can also improve your chances of finding gems with food. These will last for about 30 minutes:
Roasted Potatoes: 1x Peppercorn, 1x Butter, 1x Potato
Herb-Roasted Potatoes: 1x Cinnamon, 1x Butter, 1x Honey, 1x Potato
Before you can place your gems on weapons and armor, you have to refine them at the Stonecutting Table. It doesn’t require any levels in Stonecutting unless you want to refine higher-level gems.
To craft Cut Gemstones, you’ll need a Raw Gemstone and its corresponding essence mote.
Motes are collected from certain plants upon reaching level 50 Harvesting or from ore veins that require 50 Mining. They also can be found inside Alchemy chests or looted from rare creatures like Life Moth.
