Update 5.58 has arrived for Final Fantasy XIV

FFXIV's Endwalker release date isn't too far away, but you've still got plenty of content to keep you occupied until then. Square Enix has unveiled a roadmap with heaps of in-game events to take you up to the release of the MMORPG's fourth expansion during the latest Letter from the Producer broadcast.

Update 5.58 has arrived for Final Fantasy XIV, which marks the beginning of Season 20 of The Feast when it launches on July 20. You're also getting the Make it Rain Campaign from July 19 to August 11, giving you the chance to pick up the vexed emote by completing event quests.

There are currently no official patch notes for Final Fantasy XIV update 5.58. When Square Enix releases patch notes, we'll update this article accordingly. However, we do know that Season 20 of The Feast will launch alongside this patch. Some players have speculated that Data Center Travel could be released in Patch 5.58 as well, although there hasn't been any official confirmation yet. With that said, here's what you can expect in Patch 5.58.

Season 20 of The Feast

Data Center Travel (Unconfirmed)

Other miscellaneous fixes and tweaks

Data Center Travel is one of the biggest features coming to Final Fantasy XIV, expanding on the already present World Visit System. Once this is implemented, players will be able to hop between the Aether, Crystal, and Primal Data Centers to play with their friends. This feature is scheduled to arrive sometime before the release of Endwalker, and this could finally be the patch that adds it. It's still not confirmed for this patch and it could be released closer to Endwalker though, so don't get your hopes too high.

The main reason people believe Data Center Travel is coming in Patch 5.58 is because of the preliminary patch notes released for Patch 5.5 on Steam. Originally, the page said Data Center Travel is scheduled to be implemented in Patch 5.58, but any mention of the functionality has since been removed from the list. World Visit came shortly after the final MSQ patches dropped for Stormblood, so the timing seems right for Data Center Travel.

That would also explain the unusually long maintenance period. If it's not for Data Center Travel, however, then it could also be the developers giving themselves time to make adjustments to the servers to accommodate the massive influx of new Final Fantasy XIV players. Many popular Twitch streamers and content creators have been trying the game out recently, and the expanded free trial (which includes the critically-acclaimed expansion Heavensward and features no restrictions on playtime, by the way) has many players interested. Regardless, we'll find out what Patch 5.58 includes once the maintenance period is over.
