DPS Tier List
With the increased level cap in SoD Phase 3 as well as the introduction of the 20-man raid, it comes as no surprise that raw strength and damage are going to be at the top of the preference lists!
S-Tier:
-
Starting off with the best of the best, the Warlocks. The Warlocks have strong talent builds and are expected to get particular damage boosts due to the addition of the new runes.
-
Fire Mages, having high damage AoE spells as well as great defenses and offenses, along with exceptional one-on-one combat abilities definitely secure their position on the S-tier.
-
Lastly, Enhancement Shamans will be getting specific damage and crit buffs for Phase 3. As the Shamans are already a pretty strong DPS, these buffs will provide even more power to their class, securing their position in the S-tier.
A-Tier:
-
Shadow Priests, excelling in one-on-one combat and having their talents unlocked at level 40, secure their position at A-tier.
-
Retribution Paladin, with the release of Phase 3, these underdogs will be seeing a significant upgrade in their damage as well as strength specs.
-
Elemental Shamans are a great choice due to their rotational abilities as well as impressive damage power. They will have an improved lightning shield as well as a new playstyle for Phase 3, which brings them to the A-tier of our list.
B-Tier:
-
Balance Druids will be the first on our list for this, they aren’t getting any specific buffs for Phase 3 that will make them top the list, but they will be getting an instant damage boost for their ‘Hurricane’ as well as a longer lasting ‘Moonfire’ ability.
-
Feral Druids, Fury Warriors, Shadow Priests, and Arcane Mages also will be on this tier for Phase 3.
C-Tier:
-
Frost Mages are not necessarily a reliable choice for battle and since they will not be getting any significant buffs for Phase 3, they’re at the bottom of our list, alongside Hunter (Ranged) and Assassination Rogues.
Tank Tier List
S-Tier:
-
Once again, we have Shamans and Warlocks at the top of our list. Both of these classes have great AoE damage and are highly durable in battle. They have the capability of maintaining their stand on the battlefield. They will also be getting great buffs for Phase 3, hence the S-tier.
A-Tier:
-
Paladins are a great choice as well, and more so in Phase 3, considering the new runes that specifically cater to their abilities. They already have a high DPS, which makes them an even better choice.
-
Warriors are consistently reliable, they are adaptable, and they have high DPS.
B-Tier:
-
Rogues may be a good tank, but they come off as too bulky and hence are often not considered as the first choice. Additionally, we aren’t seeing any runes that would require Rogues as Tanks specifically for Phase 3.
C-Tier:
Healer Tier List
The Healers you choose completely depends on how your other (DPS and Tank) formations are. Healers are the backbone of any team regardless, so it is important to choose the best Healers for your team.
S-Tier:
-
Although Druids didn’t rank as high on the Tank tier list, they certainly top the list for Healers, with the new ‘Fluorescence’ rune giving a boost to their AoE healing. Druids also are the only class with the ‘Combat Resurrection Ability’ further enhancing their capabilities as Healers.
-
Priests have also gotten some great buffs for Phase 3, considering their role as Healers. They have new talents such as ‘Divine Fury’, which reduces the casting time of heal spells along with some other spells too. ‘Divine Aegis’, which creates a protective shield on the target.
A-Tier:
-
We have only one notable class making it to the A-tier of Healers for this phase, the Restoration Shamans. The addition of new spells such as the ‘Tidal Waves’ which reduces the casting time of ‘Healing Waves’ by a generous 30% as well as increases the ‘Lesser Healing Wave’ by 25%, definitely makes Shamans a great choice as Healers for Phase 3!
B-Tier:
-
Unexpectedly, for Phase 3 we have Mage Healers in B-tier. Although Mage Healers are a great addition to the team and are quite powerful and resourceful, they definitely do not beat the other high-tier classes for this new phase.
-
Paladins have been portrayed more as front-end damage dealers rather than back-end healers in the new phase. With the reveal of the new runes, we haven’t specifically seen any runes catered to suit Holy Paladins as Healers, and therefore, they rank lower in the Healer Tier List for this phase.
Conclusion
All in all, do keep in mind that these tier lists will be different for each player and from each player’s perspective. Your playing style completely depends on your team formation and vice versa. However, if you are confused or overwhelmed due to all the new updates, i.e. new runes, new level caps, new dungeons, and new events, you may need some guidance, and therefore, these tier lists are great for starting out!
But, while you play WoW Classic SoD Phase 3, be sure to enjoy the gameplay and don’t stress too much about being the best or completely understanding everything. Of course, the tier lists will keep changing as the new Phase progresses and as new Phases continue to roll out.
