Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is Getting Glamour Dressers, New Beast Tribe Quests, and More in Patch 4.2 (Reprinted)

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is getting a whole lot of content with Patch 4.2 including new main scenario quests, two new dungeons, a new trial and extreme trial, a new set of Omega raids, and now glamour dressers, a new beast tribe, and even updates to the PVP mode The Feast.

We got details on the new dungeons, quests, trials, and raids back before the holidays as well as a slew of new screenshots just before New Years, but now it’s time to talk about the rest of the features coming to the game with the second major post-expansion patch.

First on everyone’s list are the glamour updates. Everyone loves to glamour their gear in an MMO, because sometimes your high level gear leaves you looking a bit silly with some questionable fashion choices. So rather than keep that hideous look, you glamour it to look like some other piece of gear. But holding on to old sets of gear for glamour purposes takes up valuable inventory space. With only 30 spaces for each item of gear and over 30 different jobs to level in-game, inventory space is something of a hot commodity. To save us some space, we’re getting glamour dressers that allow us to turn our favorite glamour outfits into “glamour plates” which can be accessed through the use of glamour dressers in your residence or at inn rooms. Meaning you can then get that gear out of your armory chest. When you use a glamour plate, you can simultaneously glamour everything you’re wearing to reflect what is on the plate.

The Vira Ananta are getting some new quests with patch 4.2 so players leveling up their reputation with the Vira can enjoy a whole new storyline. Square Enix provided the following teaser on the FFXIV Lodestone today, “The Vira, one of the tribes of the snake-like Ananta, have long supported the efforts of the Resistance by sending warriors to bolster their ranks. One such battlemaid is Alpa, the broodmother’s daughter, who makes up for her lack of prowess in combat with her courage and ingenuity. She dreams of making a grand contribution to the Resistance, but many bizarre and perilous trials must be overcome before her plans can come to fruition.”

And finally, the Feast is getting a new map set at the Crystal Tower, some rule updates, and PVP teams. Previously, you worked as a freelancer in The Feast and were given only an individual score. Now you can create a team of four to six players to take on challenges in The Feast and get a group rating.

The rule updates to The Feast are as follows:

Battles have been made shorter and more dynamic, and feature the new Light Medal effect that reduces damage taken by a participant as their number of medals held decreases. Adjustments have also been made to the UI, making it easier to see the number of medals held and status effects.
