Final Fantasy XI Samurai Guide

In Final Fantasy XI, the job of a samurai is a very advanced one, only available to the players who have reached or surpassed level 30 in Final Fantasy XI. The samurais are different from their previous incarnations by leads and bounds.

Samurais in Final Fantasy XI are referred to as demon slaughterers because of their state-of-the-art skills and abilities. They are also capable of creating a circle ( a.k.a Warding Circle) which increases the resistive ability of their teammates (against demon attacks).

Pros and Cons of a Samurai

The developers initially visualized the Samurai as a tank that avoided damage primarily by using parries. Parrying does negate all possible damage, but the skill is tough to attain up to a level high enough to make it a viable option.

This theory can be backed by the much obvious Samurai-specific armor, which has defensive abilities and statistics that would mostly benefit the tank.

Strengths of a Samurai

  • Samurai are great for combat as it damages the enemy when appropriately equipped.

  • The skills with which the Samurai have created still exist, which means that the player can level their parrying skill pretty high.

Weakness of a Samurai

  • Samurai depend very much on the gear they use, and the gear that makes them good at one-to-one combat is generally expensive.

Who is a Samurai?

The Samurai were noble warriors from the mid-12th century in medieval and early modern Japan. They were usually the people who belonged to the officer caste of people and families of military nobility.

They were highly skilled in using multiple weapons and exceptionally well-trained in one-to-one combat. Moreover, people explicitly knew them to use Katanas as their weapon of choice.

The Katanas is probably the perfect sword ever to have existed, and they were as agile as they were powerful. Simple in terms of the design, but under the veil of this simple design, what hides is pure strength and swiftness.

Weapons play a vital role in the FFXI; upgrading them is the best way to defeat enemies and progress faster in the game. But for this, you might need to spend some Gils to get equipment. If you are falling short of Gils, you can easily purchase them from our website.

If you want to get some Gil, you can visit our website MMOPixel to buy FFXI Gil. We will provide you with the best service and lowest price on the web.

Other weapons employed by the Samurai were –

  • Tanto

  • No-Dachi

  • Tachi

  • Naginata

In Final Fantasy XI, the Samurai is a master of skill chain. Their ability to open or close almost every skill chain makes them invaluable in this game.

Information about the Samurai job

The Samurai is a quick tactical point's raiser with swift weaponry skills and expertise in several weapons.

The usage of the Katana could be the best tactical move, but the circumstances also need to be considered, like the room's height and strength required to land the blow effectively.

As good as it gets with the strengths of the Samurai, it is equally expensive for your pockets to afford all the exclusive gear for the Samurai. But do not worry, except for the gear snobs; everyone else appreciates the player's skills over the gear used.

The weapons and the gear purchasable in the game are the true reasons which make the Samurai the best job in this game. The katana and the Store TP ability allow them to accumulate tactical points faster than other jobs, and the Meditate ability instantly gives 100% TP.

In addition, the great Katanas make it easier to grow the skillchain. Thus the Samurai can be the ace of the stack in any multi-player or party player match.

Why choose the Samurai?

In Final Fantasy XI, the Samurai originates in the expansion named Rise of the Zilart. In the beginning, the Samurai was relatively weaker and had a very high damage input, fitting the skill chain maker only.

But during late 2007, the Samurai received a steady array of serious upgrades bringing it to the forefront. And by The Treasure of Aht Urhgan, the Samurai's attack and defensive ability were unmatched; combining it with the highest tactical points and unrivaled weaponry skills, the Samurai was the top tier. Moreover, the Samurai could pull out such high efficiency while retaining the crown of skill chain king.

The player could modulate the Samurai's strategies to fit a particular event's needs. The Samurai outperforms any other character in all kinds of MOE ( melee-oriented events) like:

  • EXP/Meriting

  • Dynamis

  • Limbus

And due to its high TP and low DPS (Damage per Second), the Samurai performs equally well in non-melee-friendly events. As a result, there are hardly any events where having the Samurai would be a detriment.

How to become a Samurai?

The quest for becoming a Samurai is a long and obstacle-ridden path.

It would be best if you began by taking on the starting jobs up to lvl30 to unlock the Samurai quest. You must also possess Norg (the Rise of Zilhart expansion set); to obtain Norg, you must have a pass for the Kazam airship.

Once you are in Norg, talk with Jaucribaix [K-8], he will suggest you talk to his assistants about two items. Talk with Ranaemud and Aeka. Then, once you have obtained information about the two items from them, teleport yourself or traverse your path by any other means to the Konschtat Highlands.

Then it would be best if you traded the Oriental steel (given by Aeka) to the "???"; as soon as the trade occurs, the Forger will appear in front of you.

The Forger is a notoriously aggressive monster based on fire and thus weak against ice and water. Drop:

  • Bomb Arm

  • Bomb Steel

  • Fire Crystal

  • Bomb Ash

Now head to the Sanctuary of Zi'tah with the Bomb Steel obtained from Forger. Then find "???" and trade the hatchet (bought in san'doria). Then the Guardian Treat appears.

The Guardian Treat is against a notorious monster based on Earth and weak against fire and darkness. You will obtain the Earth Crystal from the Guardian Treat as a drop.

Now having collected both the essential items:

  • Earth Crystal

  • Bomb Steel

Head back towards Nord and meet with Jaucribaix; he will have a conversation with you, and Gilgamesh will pop up too. Furthermore, he will assure you of presenting your reward after three days (3 hours).

He will reward you with your first Katana- the Mumeito –and the ability to become a Samurai.

Stats regarding various races of Samurai

For a Saurai, the most crucial stat would be the –

  • Strength(STR)

  • Dexterity(Dex)

  • Agility(AGI)

The STR stat of a Samurai defines its capability to handle weapons skillfully. With the stats withstanding, the best Samurai races are-

  • Galka

  • Mithra

  • Elvaan

It doesn't indicate that Hume and Tarutaru races are weak; in the hands of a skillful player, they are equally capable Samurais. But the other three races are better, according to game stats.
