How to Upgrade Your Ship in Lost Ark?

Ship upgrade menu in Lost Ark

You can upgrade all the ships you find in Lost Ark. This way, you’ll have better chances of crossing in a safe way the hazards you find in the water. Upgrading provides a huge variety of improvements to your ships, including ship durability and movement speed.

Just like crafting in other MMOs, you'll need a series of components to upgrade items, equipment, and gear (in this case, ships). The game lets you know which materials are required to upgrade ships.

1. Enter the sailing menu and select the ship you want to upgrade.

2. Click on the upgrade button at the top-right corner of the screen. A ship upgrade menu will bring up.

3. In this menu, you’ll find all the items needed for the process. These resources typically are:

  • Basic timber;

  • Blueprints;

  • Ship Parts.

You can obtain these materials required by purchasing from merchants located near ports, founding in the Auction House, and/or crafted at the processor NPC.

Another way of improving your ship’s performance is hiring sailors. When you’re docked in a port, navigate to the Sailor menu at the button on the screen. Here you’ll find all the sailors that are available to work on your ship.

Most sailors can be used in most ships, but some of the best sailors only ride on a specific ship. Keep in mind to check their details before hiring them.

What Are Pirate Coins and How to Earn Them?

Pirate Coins are the currency you earn while sailing and taking part in activities such as Island Quests and Marine Events. Completing these tasks grants you different rewards, including Pirate Coins. You can use this currency to purchase items from merchants docked at ports and upgrade the resistance to hazards.

You can also complete Una's Tasks for earning Pirate Coins. Una’s Tasks are daily and weekly quests you can unlock when you reach level 50.  Eight tasks award you with Pirate Coins.

What Is the Best Ship in Lost Ark?

Astray and Ghost Ship navigating in Lost Ark

Picking the “best” ship that hits the high seas is a hard task. Lost Ark is an incredibly balanced game. Due to this, you can find ships with more speed and others with the best resistance. We believe that the “best” ship is the one that is functional to your purposes.

Most players will prefer to speed around the water as soon as possible. So, Astray is the right choice for them. This is the boat with the highest base speed. Besides this, all the merchant ships excel in specific hazards, so bring the ship that will be the best to face the threats.

In these terms, Estoque is a good-balanced ship, easy to acquire (as a part of the main campaign) and upgrade, and with an impressive base speed and equal resistance.
