Last Epoch Guide to Companion System: How to Utilize It

Last Epoch, an ARPG game that features online-offline gameplay gives the players an opportunity to have companions fight alongside them! As players progress through the game, they can have companions, more commonly known as ‘minions’ by their side (Although minions are available to all classes and companions are unique only to the Primalist Class, players still sometimes refer to them as minions!). This guide will cover the Last Epoch Companion System and how to properly utilize it.

What is the Companion System in Last Epoch?

The Companion System in Last Epoch is more commonly referred to as the ‘Pet System’. This system revolves around the utilization of companions. Companions are special minions and they are unique to the ‘Primalist’ Class, as stated before.

By default, a player can only have 2 companions at a time present by their side for assistance however, this number can be increased up to 5. The Passive tree has two nodes that can increase this limit by +1 each. There is also a special helmet added to the game that gives a +1 limit for companions, hence increasing the maximum limit to 5.

Utilizing Companions

Companions have different varieties of sets of abilities from which the player can choose according to their playing style/ battle style.

Downed State: During the battle, if a companion runs out of health completely due to receiving constant damage, they enter a state of helplessness more commonly known as the ‘Downed State’. The player then has to revive their companion/minion in order to save its life and to have it alongside them once again during battle.

Reviving the Companion: In order to revive a companion in a downed state, the player has to go beside it. Once the player is beside them (in the AoE) the companion will automatically start to heal. This process will take a few seconds and the player can still use other abilities to attack while reviving their companion. However, if the player neglects in reviving their companion for a longer period of time after they are in the downed state, the companion will completely die and needs to be re-spawned in order to be used again.

Companions: Team Formation

Although each player will have a different perspective as to which team formation is the best or ideal, these are some of which I believe might be helpful to beginners.

  • Tank-like formation: For players looking to focus on their survival, a formation where they are shielded by their companions might be the way to go. Recommended companions: Bear, Sabertooth.

  • Attacking Formation: For players looking to focus more on aggressive attacks, close-ranged high power companions are ideal. Recommended companions: Raptor, Wolf.

  • Ranged Aggressive Formation: For players that do not fancy close-ranged attacks, a ranged formation with one or two close-ranged attackers may be ideal. Recommended companions: Spriggon, Scorpion.

These formations can help players get an idea of what their ideal companion and battle style is, as well as help beginners by providing a better understanding of the game. Also, you must have enough stock of gold, the in-game currency of Last Epoch to use it for smoother progress. If you are falling short of the same, get it for real money from reputed and trusted seller MMOPixel.
