Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Erdtree: Crafting and Upgrade Systems Explained

Elden Ring DLC has been taking forever to release and this has fuelled the parks of anticipation among the fans, the release date isn’t any closer as per rumours but we know it might be soon considering the game has been in production for a long time. The new DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, along with new boss fights, map expansion and many more additions, will also include new crafting and upgrading systems which will make the new DLC more interesting and will be a successful addition to the legacy of Elden Ring. These methods can be applied to improve old equipment and create powerful new armour and weapons.

For instance, you can pretty much count on the DLC to include new world bosses, exciting armour, more weaponry, and other relevant items. If these crucial elements were excluded from Elden Ring's new DLC, it would make no sense. For this reason, we hope to see them all. We'll let you know about the crafting and upgrading systems in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for the Elden Ring. The discussion will also include, how they’ll work, what materials they require and how you will obtain them. Some of the tips that will tell you exactly that are listed below:

  • Explore the world: Getting to know the game world is the greatest way to locate crafting supplies and smithing stones. Look into every corner and small areas, and don't be afraid to engage in combat.

  • Make use of the crafting manual: The menu contains the crafting guide. It contains detailed lists of all the things you can make along with the materials you'll require.

  • Consistently upgrade your equipment: Shadow of the Erdtree by Elden Ring has some extremely formidable opponents, so you'll need to make sure your equipment is up to the task.

Upgrade Systems

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree has a simple upgrade system as well. You must first obtain the required components and mix them using a smithing table in order to enhance an item.

Smithing tables can be found all throughout the game world in different places. On your map, they are typically indicated with a tiny anvil icon. When you locate a smithing table, you can use it to refine any goods for which you have the required ingredients. Depending on the item, different materials are required for an upgrade. The most common materials are:

  • Somber smithing Stones: In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Somber Smithing Stones are Upgrade Materials. Use solemn smithing stones to enhance special weapons and shields. These are used to enhance armour and special weaponry. They can be bought from merchants or discovered as plunder.

You can level up special equipment by +10 by using somber smithing stones (For upgrading regular equipment, please visit Smithing Stones). You will need to go see a Blacksmith and have the appropriate degree of Somber Smithing Stone based on how high your weapon is at the moment.

Every upgrade level in special upgrades requires the use of one Somber Smithing Stone.

  • Runes: These represent the in-game money. They can be obtained by finishing tasks, collecting riches, or vanquishing opponents. In addition to being obtained by defeating enemies, runes can also be picked up and occasionally dropped by them. These rune objects come in all shapes and sizes, and when used or sold to merchants, they yield an increasing amount of runes.

One major source of runes is bosses. Gaining victory over the most formidable opponents is worth a lot of runes. Another trustworthy supplier of runes is Golden Rune Consumables. You can save them and utilise them later when you need a few more runes because, like all items, they do not disappear upon death.

  • Smith stone: These are applied to armour and weapon upgrades. They can be bought from merchants or discovered as plunder. You can find Smithing Stones by exploring; to see a full list, visit our Interactive Map and select "Upgrade Material." In the beginning, Smithing Stone (1) and Smithing Stone (2) are available for purchase from the Isolated Merchant in Weeping Peninsula, as well as Nomadic Merchants in Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula. In order to obtain them as drops, you can also fight troll foes.

Elden Ring DLC - Shadow of the Erdtree: Crafting and Upgrade Systems Explained

Crafting Systems

Shadow of the Erdtree by Elden Ring has a very simple crafting system. Following your class selection, character creation, and purchase of the 50-rune crafting kit from Merchant Kale, you can start gathering useful resources from the surrounding area. While exploring the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, you can gather a lot of helpful goods, such as different types of plants and animals.

Even after purchasing the crafting kit, you will still need cookbooks, which are books with recipes for the things you are trying to make. Consider them to be somewhat more helpful than the instructions that come with an Ikea flat-pack piece of furniture. Once you've purchased these cookbooks, your character will carry the knowledge with them for the duration of the game and your journey, as they are not consumable.

  • For a complete collection of crafting recipes, see Cookbooks.

  • For fashioned bolts and arrows, see ammunition.

  • For crafted consumables, see Consumables.

The following is a list of some of the more frequent items you will need to create on a regular basis in Elden Ring:

  • Containers: Key objects are vessels that are necessary for creating specific goods, allowing you to manage how much of an item you can keep at any given time.

  • Sliver of meat: Twin Maiden Husks have an endless stock and they are also dropped by herbivorous animals like horses or sheep.

  • Strip of white flesh: Very uncommonly discovered across The Lands Between. Also dropped by bloodless monsters.

  • Old fang: Seldom seen in The Lands Between Finite Spawns, dropped by creatures that eat meat.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC offers rewarding and intricate crafting and upgrade systems. If you know how to use them, you can gain a substantial tactical edge. Try a variety of things to see what suits you the best.
